Funding Circle appoints Ex Revolut as Managing Director

Fintech Funding Circle has hired Jerome Fernandez as the managing director of its FlexiPay product.

Fernandez has previously worked as the VP of product at London-based challenger bank Revolut and most recently as the product director at international payments provider Remitly.

Fernandez also worked as head of cards for Sainsbury’s Bank and CTI.

“It’s a really exciting time to join Funding Circle as we set about becoming the small business lending platform where our customers can not only borrow but pay and spend as well,” said Jerome Fernandez, managing director, FlexiPay at Funding Circle.

“Initial customer feedback about FlexiPay has been really positive so it’s great to be able to build on this and bring the product to more businesses.”

Founded in 2010, Funding Circle is a London-based loan provider for SMEs, according to the company it has funded over £13.7bn to more than 122,000 businesses.

Last year investment management firm British Business Investments announced a £30m commitment through Funding Circle’s UK SME Direct Lending Fund to help UK small businesses.

Funding Circle began trading on the London Stock Exchange in 2018, with a valuation of £1.5bn.

Open banking infrastructure provider Yapily this week announced the hiring of Noam Oren as its Chief Technology Officer (CTO).

Fellow fintech Liberis recently partnered with Barclaycard to offer SMEs personal revenue-based financing earlier this month.
