Prezzee, a Sydney-based eGift card platform eyes to disrupt the £7B UK gift economy

Prezzee, a Sydney-based eGift card platform, which recently surpassed the $1B valuation mark, has established in the UK market to disrupt the £7B UK gift economy before expanding into Europe.

Prezzee’s UK has added retailers such as ASOS, John Lewis, and Deliveroo to an ever-growing list of over 750 partners globally and 120 in the UK.

With gift cards overtaking physical presents as the UK’s lockdown gift of choice, Prezzee wants to further support retailers in the upcoming festive period.

eGift card platform

Founded by Claire Morris, and Matt Hoggett, Prezzee allows users to buy, send, store and redeem digital gift cards instantly. Users can choose from 160+ eGift cards with the option to customise and personalise their eGift Card.

In B2B, Prezzee Business enables simple bulk sends, instant delivery with the option to co-brand with corporate logo, and a personalised video.

Prezzee’s gift cards eliminate the need for plastic, as every card is digital. Since the brand’s inception in 2014, over 105,000kg of CO2 has been saved by not making plastic cards.

James Malia, Prezzee UK MD, said: “Over 108 million gift cards were bought in the UK in 2019, totalling £5 billion and the market is predicted to increase by 25% to £8.8 billion by 2025, Prezzee hopes to capitalise on this booming market and we’re so excited to be in the UK in the run-up to Christmas. This is an incredibly important time for the gift card industry, with people buying presents for loved ones as well as corporations looking to reward staff after a tough year. We’ve seen warnings about present shortages and a disrupted supply chain. Prezzee offers a solution for consumers and business gift-givers allowing them to choose something that they truly want but also supporting UK retail at a crunch time.

“By using the power of technology, Prezzee is revolutionising the gifting economy. We are challenging the notion of gifting by creating moments in a post-pandemic world, making gift cards more personal whilst offering greater choice.”

Tony Karp, CEO and Managing Director, Prezzee, said: “What began as a small Aussie startup is now in full scale-up mode. By teaming up as a Mastercard Digital Rewards Partner, Prezzee will be able to seamlessly deliver its range into the Mastercard rewards and incentives programme enabling Prezzee to tap into hundreds of millions of consumers via our new partner’s business line.”

Prezzee now has offices in Australia, New Zealand, the US, and the UK.
