Best jobs in UK tech in mobility industry

Mobility is the industry of transporting people and goods (and the tech that goes with it). In recent times, mobility has expanded in scope and complexity beyond the simple concept of getting from A to B. This is due to advances in multi-modal transport and applications of software. With these advances comes jobs, and lots of them. We had a look on our own job board recently and found some really interesting open roles in the mobility industry that you absolutely have to check out…

Product Owner, JustPark

JustPark is a leader in its field. With over 5m registered customers, they are used by over 30% of motorists across the UK. Their award-winning product is backed by some of the world’s leading investors and they are one of the fastest-growing companies in Europe.

But the company’s ambitions don’t stop there. Their product team is responsible for ensuring JustPark continues to deliver innovative solutions that solve customer problems – from leading P2P marketplace and Electric Vehicle (EV) charging network to B2B platform and commercial offering.

As they grow, they’re looking for a Product Owner, who will champion, develop and progress products, ensuring they cater to the needs of a dynamic and scalable platform whilst delighting customers.

Given the high-level strategy from stakeholders, you will determine the detail of what needs to be delivered, along with the prioritisation of those elements that will deliver maximum business value as early as possible. Within the software delivery squad, you will totally own the products therein, and will be responsible for defining clear user stories and deliverables, ensuring that the squad fully understands the business objectives and value. You should apply if you have previous working experience as a Product Owner for 5+ years, along with experience of owning products through their lifecycle from idea to delivering value. Proven experience in successfully delivering measurable business value through software or initiatives you have defined is also important.

Head of Communications, Zeelo

Zeelo is looking for a driven, self-starter who can own and deliver an effective communications strategy that has a positive impact on Zeelo’s brand and helps drive top line growth.

Reporting to the CCO, the Head of Communications will play an integral role in building Zeelo’s brand awareness globally by delivering an effective communication strategy including corporate communications, content and internal communications. They want someone to join the team and hit the ground running, dictating the strategy and owning the results.

The successful candidate will be responsible for building tight relationships with key business, mobility and tech journalists and commentators in top tier publications and channels. They will create a multi channel communications roadmap and narrative to demonstrate Zeelo’s strengths and potential to senior commentators and opinion formers. What does success look like? The ideal candidate will have 5 years of communication experience client side, ideally in a high growth start up environment,  along with extensive relationships with a variety of journalists across tech, mobility and business press. They will need experience in building B2B brands during their hyper growth stage, and be comfortable working across multiple regions, being able to adapt accordingly. The ideal candidate will also need to be commercially minded – able to think like a potential customer and develop content and comms to meet their needs.

Software Engineer – Android, Citymapper

At Citymapper they are a small, hard working team on a mission to help make complex cities easy to use. Their app helps people every day in major world cities like London, New York, and Paris by giving them the most up-to-date and complete information on urban transportation options, with a personal touch.

The COVID-19 pandemic has dramatically changed travel patterns. As people have been reconsidering their travel patterns, Citymapper has been improving their support for other travel modes like bicycles, e-scooters, and walking. They have added turn-by-turn voice support for all of these, and they’re only getting started. Their small team of Android developers iterates quickly and tests new features and UI tweaks daily in their own travels. Citymapper aims to ship changes that make a real difference to users every two weeks or so. They also recently shipped the first version of their SDK, with the goal of giving other apps access to an embedded version of the full Citymapper experience.
