London’s MyTutor secures £15M to promote online private tutoring to more students in UK and beyond

London’s MyTutor is touted to be the most trusted tutoring platform in the UK. Also, it is the largest provider of in-school tuition in 2020’s Government-backed National Tuition Programme. Now, the company just secured £15 million in a round led by SEEK Investments and its existing investors including Mobeus Equity Partners.

International expansion on cards

This is SEEK Investment’s first investment since the launch of a new $1.2 billion growth fund. The investor has extensive experience investing in education companies including Future Learn in partnership with Open University, Go1 that secured $200 million in July, and Coursera that went public in March this year.

The investment will support MyTutor to build out their platform to enable tutors to deliver even more effective and engaging lessons, further develop their group tuition product, and expand internationally.

MyTutor’s co-founder and CEO, Bertie Hubbard, said: “We see tutoring as a core part of every child’s education, not as a quick stop gap to deal with an immediate learning problem. It works best alongside their school education – filling any gaps in their foundations, building confidence, and unlocking their full potential.”

“A positive education experience for everyone is of critical importance. The pandemic has only highlighted the need for an online service that helps fill the gaps in today’s education system by delivering personalised support tailored to the individual. We are excited to support MyTutor as they look to bring life quality tuition to a wider audience.” commented SEEK co-founder Andrew Bassat.

Disrupts tuition industry

Founded by Robert Grabiner, Bertie Hubbard and James Grant, leading online tutor, MyTutor’s mission is to provide life-changing tuition for all irrespective of their background. It is unique as it supports both disadvantaged students through its schools programme and private tuition partnering directly with parents.

With over 20,000 tutors, MyTutor has supported over 1,000 Secondary Schools, hundreds of thousands of parents, and delivered over 2 million lessons. They have also just been announced as a provider for the National Tuition Programme for the second year running after supporting 30,000 students with catchup learning in the last academic year.

All its tutors are carefully-vetted subject experts from the UK’s top universities. The tutors not only provide academic support but also build confidence and provide mentorship too.
