Jobbio and UKTN partner to eliminate hiring concerns in UK tech space

The job market has changed a lot in the last 12 months as a direct result of COVID-19. Thousands of people lost their jobs all over the UK, companies introduced hiring freezes and furlough schemes took on a major role in pretty much every market.

It’s been a difficult time, but there’s light at the end of the tunnel. We’ve seen a shift – things are changing and things are slowly returning to normal. People are ready to get back to work, and companies are ready to hire.

We wanted to do something to help this process along, and get people back into the UK tech space. The first step we took was chatting to industry leaders about their hiring concerns in a post-pandemic world. So, what are businesses in the tech space looking for in terms of recruitment platforms?

The three main factors that we discovered were: quality candidates, time efficiency and cost effectiveness.

Speaking about potential use of news media platforms for job postings, Kerry Alderdice, HR Manager at Texthelp said: “If it allowed us to receive a higher number of good quality candidates, then it is something we would consider in the future.”

For any recruitment efforts to work, particularly in a more competitive marketplace such as tech jobs, it’s crucial to highlight the strengths of a business from a cultural standpoint.

Ritam Gandhi, Founder and Director, Studio Graphene, said: “Indeed, an applicant’s skills and experience might fit a number of different positions, but having a strong insight into the benefits of working for one company over another will not only serve to spark their interest, but determine whether there is a good cultural fit from both sides.”

Transparency is so important – job listings can often be too generic and filled with jargon, so employers should state the nature of the role, the job titles and the package as plainly as they can.

This is feedback we really took on board when working on our partnership with Jobbio, and today we’re proud to launch a product we really believe in.
